On August 26th, five members of the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch participated in a heart pillow workshop. During the workshop, we shared our own experiences, ideas, and learned from each other. Each member prepared and brought necessary tools such as scissors, needles, threads, poly-fil stuffing, and various types of fabrics like flannel, fleece and cotton, etc. The patterns of fabrics were either solid, adorable animals or abstract prints. By the end of the workshop, everyone had made at least one heart pillow. We hope to adapt the new skills learned from this workshop and sew more heart pillows for cancer patients in the near future. The heart pillows that we sewed and contributed will be included in the cancer care kits distributed to patients nationwide. From this process, we help bring smiles and solidarity to those affected by cancer, as well as share and express our creativity, love, and encouragement for those in need.
