Chapel Hill Branch Hosts Origami Fun Table at Kidzu Museum on Aug 4, 2023

On Friday, August 4th, AYLUS-Chapel Hill volunteered at Kidzu, a local children’s museum. In the morning, volunteers set up an origami station, bringing and folding origami for the spectators. The station featuring a host of builds, a hanging chandelier of animals, and handouts, all was very well put together, so many children were inspired to learn about the art of origami. Carolyn Shi, an esteemed alumni of our branch, came back to assist, showing off her flourishing paper bending skills.

In the afternoon, the branch helped with a parachute station, where members made and taught the craft of small parachutes. The parachutes were attached to little figures, enhancing the children’s imagination as well as furthering their knowledge in aerodynamics and physics.

Overall, the branch had a great time volunteering at Kidzu, and we look forward to coming back again!

Volunteers who participated in this event are Nicholas Wang (3 hours), Eric Sun (3 hours), Joshua Yoon (3 hours), and Carolyne Shi (3 hours).
