In June 2023, three members of the Chapel Hill Branch worked together on crafting heart pillows for cancer patients. With careful selection, we used soft materials adorned with adorable patterns, symbolizing love and support for the recipients. In addition, we had two volunteers participate in crocheting hats. This heartfelt project aimed to provide physical relief during patients’ treatment and remind them that they were not alone in their journey. Our team sincerely hoped that these handmade pillows would bring comfort and smiles to the patients’ faces. In addition, we believe that this event is a warm invitation for more volunteers to join us in the future. Overall, the heart pillow and crocheted hat project exemplified the power of support and solidarity, making a meaningful difference in the lives of cancer patients.
Volunteers who participated in this event are Eric Sun (6 Pillows, 7/28 – 4 hrs, 7/29 – 5 hrs), Luna Chen (6 Pillows, 7/29 – 6 hrs, 7/30 – 3 hrs), Zhiyuan (Jack) Xu (4 Pillows, 7/29 – 6 hrs), karen Lin (3 hats, 9 hrs), Matthew Guo (3 hats, 9hrs)
