Murrieta AYLUS Helps Local Food Bank ( 19th) ( 7/3/2023)

Reported By Adora Xiao :

On Monday July 3, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to the Community Mission of Hope food bank. They started with mopping the area, cleaning up after a dessert contest that had taken place on a previous day. Then, they set up the carts that would generally hold produce, bread, rolls, desserts, and more. After lining up and organizing the shelves, they found their first shipment of desserts and breads. They sorted the muffins, a plethora of Fourth of July themed cookies, and a large assortment of breads and rolls. They then turned to receive another shipment, and began weighing the carts for said shipments. They then began sorting meats into boxes to be frozen and stored. The pork was sorted into one box, deli meats another, and the rest was left in another box. They then stacked the boxes carefully to ensure they wouldn’t crush each other. Afterwards, they took a short break before splitting into groups. While one tackled the large amount of produce to clean, sort, and store, the other took boxes of sweets and more bread to display on the shelves. They then came together again for a large shipment of apple punch, filling multiple carts to the tune of hundreds of pounds of liquid. They applauded each other for the hard work, and look forward to returning soon.
