On June 4th, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members helped out their local senior center, Atria Park of Vintage Hills & Torrey Pines Living Senior Center.
Atria Park of Vintage Hills: Upon arriving, they found that the seniors were finishing up a music performance in the Rose Court room. As they watched the video, the members chatted with some of the residents. When the video ended, the members guided the residents to the Wisteria Court room. After everyone’s settled down, the members headed to the kitchen to bring out the ice cream and napkins for them. With their task finished, the members made small talk with the seniors. Coincidentally, a musician was scheduled to come in for a performance that day. As the musician sang songs and played the guitar, the residents clapped their hands along with him. When the time came for members to leave, they waved goodbye to the residents and the musician, promising to come back the following week.
Torrey Pines Living senior center: They began with light exercise with pool noodles, taking care to stretch out muscles and joints. However, during exercise, a resident took a fall. They assisted with comforting the resident until the nurse arrived to assist, before pouring and handing out drinks to comfort the other residents. They took care to make conversation and also comfort the recently fallen resident, before moving on to the daily chronicle. After the daily chronicle, they began some karaoke and then rounded out the day with a few rounds of mock basketball. Then, the residents were transported for lunch.
