On Sunday afternoon, members of the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch took the opportunity to volunteer with PORCH, a volunteer-based organization that specializes in running monthly food drives and other programs to distribute nourishment and resources to those in need. They provide fresh and healthy food to local families, pantries, and schools alike. Volunteers who collect, sort, and distribute food donations are heavily relied on as they play an essential role in PORCH. During our volunteer session, we sorted fresh and non-perishable products. Working for two hours was intense but led to satisfying results. Our work was highly appreciated by Carol, the PORCH leader. We strongly stand with PORCH, as they believe that everyone should have access to fresh food and be relieved of hunger. If we work together as a community, we are capable of creating a lot of change and winning in our fight against hunger. As a community, we are responsible for each other, and we should encourage others to volunteer with PORCH to support their commendable cause. Working with PORCH has taught us the value of working together as a team, especially during rough times. We hope that our contribution will allow those in need to enjoy proper nourishment. We look forward to our next session in June!
Volunteers who participated in this event are Nicholas Wang (2 hrs) and Kathryne Hong (2 hrs)
