On Friday, April 4, 2023, 3 AYLUS members volunteered for Opportunity Partners, a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people with intellectual disabilities find and train for a job. This was their 70th anniversary Gala, so the event had over 350+ attendees raising over $150,000 for Opportunity Partners. AYLUS Twin Cities volunteered from 4:30-9:30 PM, totaling 5 hours of service. During this time, the members greeted attendees at the back and side doors of the building and directed them toward the gala, packaged auctioned prize items, and helped auction winners check out and obtain their won items. The event was so exciting with all the various tasks we were assigned, and it was heartwarming seeing so many people dedicated to improving the lives of the intellectually disabled. It brought us closer to this community and showed just how big of an impact people can have when they work together toward a common cause.
