Easter is a wonderful time to celebrate with family and friends, and one of the most beloved traditions of the holiday is the Easter egg hunt. Filling plastic Easter eggs with treats and surprises is a fun way to get into the spirit of the holiday. On Friday, April 7, a group of AYLUS volunteers got together and filled plastic Easter eggs with goodies that will delight kids of all ages.
The event organizers bought a variety of items to make the eggs more exciting. The volunteers mix and match small toys, candy and snacks, miniature figurines, stickers and temporary tattoos, and placed one or two items inside each plastic eggshell. Most plastic Easter eggs snap shut, but some may require extra effort. We used tape to make sure the egg is securely closed so the items don’t fall out during the egg hunt. After hours of hard work, almost 2,500 eggs are filled.
In addition, the volunteers inflated balloons to create a balloon garland for the Egg Hunt scheduled on Easter Sunday. Sometimes it is hard to control the balloon pump. Sometimes, we forgot to leave a little space at the end of the balloon. So when we tried to tie a knot, the balloon popped. The loud noise scared some volunteers who were working at the other table. Finally, the room was filled with colorful balloons and laughter. We stringed balloons together so it’s easier to create an interesting garland design. We hope families and friends can take photos in front of such an eye-catching decoration and capture sweet memories.
The Easter egg hunt preparation was very successful. All the volunteers are excited about the upcoming event, and wish all the kids to enjoy the treats and surprises and have a lot of fun!
