On March 18, 2023, a group of five student volunteers from the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch performed a variety of music at the Carol Woods retirement community. Our team consisted of three pianists and a duet featuring a pianist and a singer. The performance was a mix of classical and jazz music, and the group also presented popular songs like “How Far I’ll Go” from Moana in vocal performances. Our volunteers were delighted to show enthusiasm and talent to give back to the community. We plan to continue our outreach efforts by performing monthly shows at the retirement community. This will not only give the residents a chance to experience the art of music but also provide an opportunity for the volunteers to polish their skills and gain valuable performance experience. We hope that our passion for music was able to brighten the day of the senior residents and make a meaningful contribution to their well-being.
