AYLUS Dix Hills Branch works with Half Hollow Hills Library to tutoring children K-5 struggling in school on March 8, 2023. Volunteers helped children understand the lesson they were reviewing during school and helped them do their homework. After the volunteers finished with their homework, they gathered all of the children to play a game of answering a random equation one of the volunteers threw out. This not only increased their enthusiasm for answering questions, it also allowed them to be more confident in their mathematical ability.
AYLUS Dix Hills hopes to make a positive impact on the community’s academic environment as well as children’s mental well-being.
Volunteers were Ru Xue Jiang (1 hour and 30 minutes), and new members waiting for their AYLUS T-Shirts (1 hour for all): Asiya Hasanoff, Aisha Rahimi, Nayaab Afzal, Gurvani Singh, and Tanisha Singh.
