On February 14, Valentine’s Day, members of the AYLUS Chapel Hill Branch dedicated themselves to spreading some love and joy to seniors in their community by participating in a baking opportunity for Meals on Wheels.
Meals on Wheels is an organization that provides meals to seniors who are unable to leave their homes. Their program provides nourishment as well as safety checks on their well-being. Our members spent hours baking and preparing 80 homemade cookies in their own kitchens to be sent to the MoW organizers, along with two placemats. These acts of generosity can have a significant impact on someone’s day. We hope that our thoughtful gestures allow everyone to spend their valentines with cookies made with warmth and love. If you’re looking to buy homemade cookies, this heartfelt initiative could inspire you to spread kindness in your community as well.
Volunteers who participated in this event are Nicholas Wang (2 hours), Eric Sun (3 hours), Joshua Yoon (2 hours), Joanna Yoon (2 hours), Matthew Guo (2 hours), Ethan Li_ECHHS (2.5 hours), Kathryne Hong (2 hours), and Ethan Li_DA (2 hours).
