Twin Cities Fights Hunger at Second Harvest Heartland (2/4/23)

On Saturday, February 4th, 2023, AYLUS Twin Cities volunteered at Second Harvest Heartland, the largest food bank in the Midwest that distributes donated food to smaller local food shelves. The event lasted from 12 PM – 2 PM, totaling 2 hours. Combined with a few other volunteers, the 4 AYLUS members packed over 8,000 pounds of potatoes into 40-pound bags so that they could be easily distributed to the over 400,000 Minnesota residents with food insecurity. This was our first time at Second Harvest, and it was a great feeling knowing that we made a substantial contribution to the hunger crisis. It also was a different experience because we were feeding our community in the Twin Cities, which made the opportunity even more special.
