On January 28, 2023, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to STAT horse sanctuary. They began the day greeting the dogs, before going to clean the goat pens. Goats with and without horns were separated, and the pens were mucked out with rakes. They took careful care to greet the goats individually, taking some time to pet and play while working. The dead grass was raked and collected into wheelbarrows, which were then moved to disposal piles. They then moved to collect the grass in the pen of turkeys, pigs, and more goats. The dead wet grass was a breeding ground for bacteria, hence needed to be gathered and disposed of. After greeting Jack the turkey and the discovery of his adamant hatred of rakes, they then cleaned the dust and dirt off of mats for the animals. After the final load of grass was disposed of, they took a break, before moving to weed the garden. To end the day of hard work, they took treats to the horses, greeting the new mares arriving at the sanctuary.
