San Diego Branch Hosted the Solution for Hope Tutoring Class on January 15, 2023

Coop with Foodbank, the AYLUS San Diego Committee kicked off the 2022-2023 Solution for Hope on-line classes for raising fund to underprivileges families. The Tutoring Class Activity was kicked off on January 15, 2023.

The goal of tutoring classes is to help ESL students in the local area to quickly grow accustomed to communicating in English and get needed help for their schoolwork. In order to help them conquer their language problems, we’re hosting this event to have volunteers help the ESL students. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students and be conducted on zoom. We hope that with this event we can help these ESL students adapt to their new surroundings and gain confidence!

Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach 2 ESL students a wide array of topics and led them through many different discussions, each one tailored to suit the student’s individual needs. Each class is a one-on-one private lesson, with volunteers specifically matched with students.

Andrew Chen taught 1 on 1 Biology (John Zou) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Kyle Huo taught 1 on 1 English (Barry Zou) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, January 15, 2023.

Colin Xie taught Math (Enke Luo) for 1.5 hrs on Saturday, January 15, 2023.

Eric Li (FP) taught 1 on 1 English (Jessica Jiang) for 1 hr on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Luke Qiao taught 1 on 1 Java coding (Junpeng Zhao) for 1 hr on Saturday, January 14, 2023.

Meijia He taught Python coding (Max Zhang) for 1.5 hrs on Sunday, January 15, 2023.
