On Saturday, AYLUS Roslyn branch went to the Connetquot river state park from 10-1 pm.
George from NYC State Parks, Recreation & Historical Presentation had a year-end review this Saturday. AYLUS was nominated in the speech as a very outstanding public welfare organization with a powerful cohesion and gathered many high school students to make our community park more beautiful. During the year, we carried out a number of activities, including the removal of alien species, gardening various native plants, and stewardship of the public parks. The goal for next year is CORE: communities organizing for restoring the environment. We want to plant more native species to maintain a natural healthy environment, so students majoring in farming give each of us a packet of wildflower seeds that can easily grow in the garden. Furthermore, we are going to increase the variety of activities. Planning to add some events about saving ocean animals like turtles or some volunteers can go training and learn things about the ocean animal ecosystem. In addition, an international student from Korea shows how she solves different kinds of problems like living with another family in order to take photos of different kinds of shells to accomplish her dream. Now, she already found about 300 species near New York and is still searching for different kinds of shellfish. This encourages us to find the things that we are interested in nature and protect them. AYLUS people also get our own badges, which reward individuals on different important dates depending on their efforts.
