On November 8, AYLUS Main Line Branch hosted their first cleanup event at Wilson Farm Park from 2 P.M. to 5 P.M. The branch has expanded to 15 members within the first three months of its formation.
In this event, ten members gathered at the parking lot to rake leaves to clear up parking spaces and roads for the first hour. Then they split up into three groups and stationed themselves in distinctive sections for another hour. Emily, Melissa and Celina cleaned the fields and courts, including the bleachers for left-over trash from previous games, and part of the duck pond area. Bonnie and Mindy surveyed the main park entrance and playgrounds, picking up plastic toys and candy wrappers. Steven, Joe, Ethan, Calvin, and Victor cleared the forested area for pieces of trash left behind in unconventional sites and the exhibit area documenting the history of Valley Forge. Besides of Leaves, a total amount of fifteen pounds of trash was picked up at the end of the event. The next day, Steven Cui composted the leaves at Mill road Leaf site.
