Murrieta AYLUS Lended a hand to the Morgan Hill Fall Festival (10/22/2022)

Reported by : Adora Xiao

On Oct 22, 2022, Murrieta AYLUS members lended a hand to the Morgan Hill Fall Festival.

They were greeted with the welcoming sight of a cool day and booths littered across a park, excitedly greeting the other volunteers at the festival and getting to work. Their job was to run the Arts and Crafts station, distributing and assisting kids in assembling Halloween themed crafts. After an hour of setup, they found that the amount of people at the festival quickly multiplied. While interest was slow at first, slowly the booth began gaining traction, and everyone dove into helping one group then the next. The high amount of traffic also allowed everyone to have a close look at the diverse amount of Halloween costumes at the event, bonding through similarly watched movies and shows.

After a few hours of fast paced work, traffic to the booth slowed, giving the members opportune time to sample churros and explore. After their return, they quickly realized the wind in the early afternoon that had previously been a mild inconvenience soon became detrimental to crafting progress, and they switched strategies. While crafts had previously been done at 4 tables, they were now distributed for families to take home and enjoy. After an hour of distribution, it was time to clean up. As tables were folded, trash was disposed of, and crafts were put back into boxes; everyone bid farewell to the successful event.

Volunteers:
