On August 27th 2022, GTVA President Ally Negulescu (3 hours) volunteered and partnered with Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club and helped to clean public bus stop benches in Temecula!
Waking up at 6 am on a long awaited Saturday may seem like a hassle at first, but not when you’re meeting up with the Temecula Sunrise Rotary Club in the morning! Half asleep in the car, Ally drove to the Shell gas station on Solana Way and Ynez Road to meet up with everyone. After all people arrived and a group photo was taken, teams were quickly formed and routes were mapped out to help clean Temecula!
The route Ally was assigned to had a total of 11 different bench stops. The cleaning routine was simple; pull to the side of the road in front of the bench, spray it down with cleaner and water, and wipe with paper towels. Temecula logos that were stuck on the bench were also replaced if the sticker was peeled. If there was vandalization on any of the benches, it would also be sprayed with paint remover after laughing at the peculiar form of art. Luckily, only one bench was sprayed with graffiti.
After a hot morning of scrubbing public benches and sponging off paint, Ally was finally able to call it a day. It was quite a different experience, and don’t forget to stay tuned to next month’s bus bench cleaning!
