The AYLUS Bellaire Branch volunteered at the Houston Food Bank on Sunday, August 21, 2022.
The Houston Food Bank is America’s largest food bank. The food bank distributes fresh produce, non-perishable goods, and meals to those in need in the Houston area. The Senior Box Program distributes shelf-stable CSFP (Commodity Supplemental Food Program) food for low-income seniors in Houston.
From 9 AM to 12 PM, volunteers packed food boxes for The Senior Box Program. During the three hours of volunteering, volunteers packed canned goods into boxes. Volunteers packed five pallets of boxes, which approximates 7,800 lbs of food and over 8,000 meals for low-income seniors in Harris County.
