On Sunday, July 17th, 2022, nine members of the Chapel Hill branch came together to support PORCH, a small hunger relief organization that actively provides for our local community. Members assisted in double-bagging to prepare the bags to be filled with non-perishable food. The next day, each of these bags would be in somebody’s car, ready to be taken home with them. In addition, they contributed to writing postcards to North Carolina Senators Tillis and Burr, requesting them to urgently pass the Global Malnutrition Prevention and Treatment Act of 2021 (S.2956). Due to climate change, the world’s food supply has rapidly decreased, preventing children from obtaining the nutrition they need. Passing this legislation would aid in the health of children, as well as the economy. We are so thankful for this opportunity of making a difference in our society, one step at a time!
