The AYLUS Bellaire branch volunteered at the Houston Children’s Charity (HCC) Closet on Saturday, July 16th, 2022, from 8:45am-12:00pm.
The HCC Closet provides clothing, shoes, and accessories to families in need at no cost around the city. Previously, the branch had held a clothing drive collecting clothing donations around the neighborhood. Today, the volunteers sorted through these clothing donations and wrapped up the last day event of the HCC Closet week. Volunteers helped stock racks and shelves and assisted the 320 families that had signed-up to shop that day. Additionally, volunteers organized over 500 postcards to be sent to families that would be distributed backpacks for the back-to-school season. At the end of event, volunteers moved racks and mattresses to make space for a huge backpack delivery next week.
Six volunteers attended the event (3.25 hours): Sophia Li, Emerald Tang, Daniel Chan, Alan Du, Andy Shen, and Helena Wang.
