From July 11th to July 15th, 2022, members of the AYLUS Bellaire branch held their first clothing donation drive benefiting the Houston Children’s Charity (HCC) Closet program.
For over a decade, the HCC Closet has provided clothing, shoes, beds, and school supplies at no cost for thousands of lower-income children and families around the city. These efforts are made possible by the hundreds to thousands of donations they receive from the surrounding community.
The Aylus Bellaire leadership decided to hold a clothing donation drive benefiting the HCC Closet during the week of July 11th. Volunteer Eric Li designed the flyer advertising the Closet’s efforts in Bellaire to gather donations. On July 15th, volunteers Joshua Cheng and Helena Wang collected these donations around the neighborhood, accumulating 8 bags of clothes, which amounted to several hundred pieces of clothing. Volunteers Emerald Tang and Helena Wang then delivered those clothing to the HCC Closet warehouse on July 16th, 2022. Many members of the Aylus Bellaire family have also pledged to donate gently used clothing which will be collected on a later date.
