San Diego Branch hosted the 3rd solution for hope tutoring class on June 12, 2022

Coop with Foodbank, the AYLUS San Diego Committee kicked off the 2022-2023 Solution for Hope on-line classes for raising fund to underprevilliaged families. The 3rd Tutoring Class Activity was kicked off on June 12nd, 2022.

The goal of tutoring classes is to help ESL students in the local area to quickly grow accustomed to communicating in English and get needed help for their schoolwork. In order to help them conquer their language problems, we’re hosting this event to have volunteers help the ESL students. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students, and be conducted on zoom. We hope that with this event we can help these ESL students adapt to their new surroundings and gain confidence!

Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach ESL students a wide array of topics and led them through many different discussions, each one tailored to suit the student’s individual needs. Each class is an one-on-one private lesson, with volunteers specifically matched with students.

15 students attended the Activity on June 12 & 13, 2022. Overall, there were 30 participants in the program.

Colin Xie taught 1 on 1 math for 1.5 hrs Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Kele Huo taught 1 on 1 math for 1 hrs on Sunday, June 12, 2022.

Serena Liu taught 1 on 1 math for 1.5 hrs Sunday, June 12, 2022.
