AYLUS Bellaire volunteered at Houston Public Library Book Warehouse On April 24, 2022

From 10:00 AM to 1:30 on Sunday, April 24, the Bellaire Branch of AYLUS volunteered at the Friends of the Houston Public Library Book Warehouse (6510 W Little York Rd, Houston, TX 77040).

The Friends of the Houston Public Library Warehouse donates, recycles, and resells over 800,000 books each year, spreading reading throughout the community. Volunteers can be a part of this effort by helping to process the many books at the warehouse. There, the AYLUS volunteers organized and cataloged shelves of children’s books into boxes. The books were categorized into six genres, those being Kids Fiction(K-Fic), Kids Nonfiction(K-Non), Easy Reader(EZ), Board Books(Brd), Young Adult(YA), and Comics. These books would go on to either be sold at the warehouse for one dollar each or donated to organizations such as Connect4Literacy.

Five volunteers participated at this event (4/24/2022, 3.5 hrs): Miranda Wang, Helena Wang, Aria Jin, Valerie Yu, and Isabel Li.
