On December 5th 2021, members from the Bergen branch hosted their last park cleanup of the year at the Overpeck Park in Bergen County. We partnered with the Bergen County Department of Health Services to organize the cleanup. Much of the litter was collected by docks and boat launching sites as a lot of litter would wash up on the riverbanks and shores. There was also a lot of trash floating in the river itself, and most of the trash conglomerated with mud and sticks to form a marsh-like environment full of trash that was stuck to the docks.
