On 10/24/2021, AYLUS-Syosset participated in the Suicide Prevention Activity, as we all know that millions of Americans consider suicide, make a suicide plan, or attempt suicide every year — especially young Americans for which suicide is the ones of the top 10 leading causes of death. This number is even higher among LGBTQ+ and Native American youth.
Suicide often occurs in a moment of unbearable pain or deep despair. Many individuals with mental health needs are overcome with a sense of overwhelming hopelessness and feel they have nowhere to turn. Being the member of Alliances of Youth Leaders, we commit to connecting with those who are struggling and to encouraging communities, organizations, and governments to work together to prevent suicide.
Let’s remember those lives lost to suicide and try our best to save those people who still feel struggling and hopeless, let tell them “we are here and stay with you, you are not alone!”
