On September 28th, AYLUS members volunteered for the voter registration initiative organized by the Center for Pan Asian Community Services (CPACS). In the beginning, Tiffany Garnace from CPACS gave an orientation to new volunteers about the organization and explained how to reach out to potential voters. Then we began texting and sending messages. For one and a half hours, two volunteers sent seventeen thousand texts to people, urging them to register for the upcoming local and national elections. We also interacted with many voters by answering their questions, explaining, and providing more information. In the end, Tiffany led a debriefing session to discuss our experiences and reviewed some questions/answers we encountered from the voters. It was the seventh time for some members to participate in this voter outreach initiative, and it was an excellent experience for us.
