On July 22, AYLUS Greater Temecula Valley AYLUS member Adora Xiao( 4 hrs) took a Virtual Field Trip to the Getty Museum: Getty Center.
The Getty Museum consists of two locations. The first is the Getty Center. This center showcases European art and is located on a hill. The second location is the Getty Villa. The Getty Villa is alongside the ocean, displaying ancient Greek and Roman art within a recreated Roman house. The location that Adora visited was the Getty Center.
With different exhibits to the North, South, East, and West, there were many works: sculptures, paintings, photography, and everyday items. Spending time carefully looking at all exhibits, Adora selected a few that stood out to research further. These works included the sphinxes on scrolls, glass beakers, a side table, and a famous painting of King Louis XIV. Each work was photographed and placed into a presentation providing additional information about the works and about the museum as a whole.
With air conditioning to battle the Los Angeles heat, a breath-taking view, and a tram ride reminiscent of a subway—Adora thoroughly enjoyed her trip to the museum and was excited to learn more about the timeless works of art.
