On July 4th, 2021, 37 AYLUS volunteers came together in Independence to help orchestrate the Celebration of Freedom event, as part of a three-day long volunteering mega event to prepare and dismantle the concert’s setup. During the 5 hours shift from 4:00pm to 9:00pm, volunteers handed out free shirts and bug spray, cleaned up trash, helped with event games, and much more. Even though it rained out for the first few hours of the event, the volunteers stayed vigilant and continued to do their duties, and the show continued in full celebration of our nation’s independence, honoring our veterans and our city leadership. Our volunteers had a fantastic time interacting with eventgoers and administration staff, helping parts of the event run smoothly. We, and the Parks and Recreation team staffing this event, cannot be prouder of all the work you all have done to make this a success!
