On June 18th, 2021, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 118th Computer for Kids Lab for two hours, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.
The participants did the following:
37 – Monitors Tested and Cleaned
49 – Computers Blown Out
19 – Hard Drives Removed
2 – Gaylords Sorted with Miscellaneous Technology
So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of 2020:
- Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 6,497 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
- Cleaned out, or prepared 790 desktop computers for refurbishing
- Tested/repaired/mounted 743 LCD monitors
- Removed RAM from 890 computers
- Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, removed and cloned 9,017 hard drives
- Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 23,019 mice/keyboards/power cords/adapters/batteries/etc.
- Tested and Bagged 156 Speakers
- Removed 104 Optical Drives/CD Drives
- Removed 275 Motherboards/Processors
