On June 26th, 2021, San Diego students of AYLUS organized the 21st online Competition Tutoring for students activity. In this activity, AYLUS volunteers helped younger students practice for upcoming competitions in various subjects.
In almost all of these academic competitions, the level of expertise required to perform well is much higher than that of standard classes in school. Because of this, many students interested in competing struggle to find tutors who can help hone the necessary skills. The lessons will be flexible times based on the schedules of volunteers and students, and be conducted on zoom. Through this event, we hope to help out interested students as well as increase interest in more specialized academic competitions.
Through this activity, AYLUS volunteers were able to teach 20 students several competition-related topics, each one tailored to best prepare the students for specific academic competitions. Each class is has one volunteer teaching many students, with volunteers specifically matched with students. Overall, there were 21 participants in this event.

Jeffery Guo taught AMC 8 Math to his students Michael, Jas Chen, Junpeng Zhao, and Esther on Wednesday, 6/16, for one and a half hours.
Edward Qiao to his students Evelyn, Sierra Huang, Jintong Wang, Andrew Zhou, William, Colin, Logan, Haowen Sun, Michael, Isabel Ji, Dylan Deng, Andrew, Ryan, Ethan, Esther, Justin Wang, Jason, Ellin Qiao, and Joseph on Thursday, 6/17, for one and a half hours.
Qiao (Alvin) Zhao taught USACO – Bronze to his students Andrew Chen, Haowen Sun, Ethan Zhao, Justin Wang, and Hayden Chen on Saturday, 6/19 for one and a half hours.
Albert Mao taught AMC 8 Math to his students Kevin Du, William Cheng, Emily Wu, Lylia Zheng, Lindsay Zhu, Philip Zhang, and Audrey Wu on Thursday, 6/24, for one and a half hours.
Edward (Eddie) Qiao to his students Andrew Chen, Haowen Sun, Ruihan Huang (Emily), Esther Lam, Junnie Niu, Andrew Zhou, Justin Wang, and Kyle Zheng on Thursday, 6/24, for one and a half hours.
