On August 8 th we hosted the last class for the “Hello Wuhan” project. Volunteers and Wuhan students gathered online to share their experiences of the past five months and say farewell to each other.
This project was officially initiated in early March amidst the global pandemic when students on both
ends of the world were quarantined and unable to attend school. About 20 AYLUS volunteers gave
weekly English lesson to students in Wuhan. They have built tight bonds via language and culture
exchange. During the final class, Wuhan students shared a video of the photos taken throughout the
teaching sessions and a video that introduces their country. Students in Wuhan expressed their
appreciation to the AYLUS volunteers and welcomed them to visit them in the future. AYLUS volunteers also shared their great experience in during the 5-month period, along with how they were impressed by Wuhan’s students hard working and optimistic attitude during the quarantine. Both volunteers and students wish to stay connected in the future. The past 5 months were a memorable experience.
