The Hello Wuhan English tutoring project started by AYLUS Pearland in mid-March, ended with their last lesson on August 2nd, 2020, because Wuhan schools are due to reopen on July 13th, after 5 months of campus closing since mid-February due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
During the 21 weeks of Hello Wuhan English tutoring, volunteers and students in Wuhan not only teach & learn, but also communicate about daily life, get to know each other, and eventually become good friends. They also shared experiences of quarantine time at home. The AYLUS volunteers were caring, and the Wuhan students worked very hard to improve their skills. They appreciated and inspired each other. Wuhan students were very appreciative for the help from the AYLUS volunteers, some of them even wrote appreciate letter to their tutors. They also prepared small gifts to express their appreciation. Without a doubt, the Hello Wuhan project was a great success.
