San Diego Branch Volunteers Donated Excess Medical Face Masks to Hospitals in Early May, 2020.

Reported by Samuel Li

As the pandemic still rages on, medical personnel need to treat more and more patients who have unfortunately caught COVID-19. Because of this, Doctors and nurses need to work longer, greatly exhausting their supply of Personal Protective Equipment, or PPE. As a result, medical supply shortages in local hospitals have become severe, and some hospitals are beginning to use hand-made masks with limited protection against the virus. California Department of Public Information even launched a website to  collect basic medical supplies: https://covid19supplies.ca.gov/

AYLUS San Diego Branch decided to try and protect the essential workers and medical personnel by providing them with PPE. In the past, AYLUS San Diego has raised funds and donated a total of 2,000 FDA KN95 (GB2626-2006) face masks to local hospitals, such as Kaiser Pemenente Hospital and Rady’s Childrens’ hospital.

Due to the difficulty in purchasing large amounts of medical protective face masks, AYLUS San Diego has asked its volunteers to donate any excess  face masks in their homes to local Hospitals. Families, after ensuring they have enough face masks for their own use, are allowed the opportunity to donate extra PPE masks to local hospitals.

The following volunteers donated:

1、Owen Nie Disposable protective mask 100
2、Samuel Li 3M8200 20
3、Daniel Li KN95 60/Surgical Mask 20

In early May of 2020, San Diego Branch volunteers donated excess Medical face masks to local hospitals.
