San Diego Branch participated in the “Help Fight the Coronavirus” fundraising event

Reported by Samuel Li

In January 2020, an outbreak of the coronavirus occurred in Wuhan province of China, with over 8,000 people infected and nearly 200 people dead. The Coronavirus spread very fast, infecting people in Chinese provinces.

In Wuhan, nurses and doctors fought long and hard on the front lines to save patients’ lives. The hospitals were overcrowded, and medical protective equipment such as masks and protective gears were in short supply. As a result, essential medical personnel who were vital to containing the outbreak were at a high risk of being infected.

In response to this situation, AYFLUS launched a “Help Fight the Coronavirus” fundraising event on January 28,in order to fund donations for medical supplies to Wuhan Hospitals. The San Diego branch of AYLUS responded immediately with families of volunteers donating one after another, hoping to make their best effort to save the lives of Chinese compatriots. Together with the other branches, AYLUS raised a total of around $2,500, purchased numerous medical supplies and equipment and delivered them to hospitals in Wuhan. In this pandemic event, overseas Chinese worked together to provide support to their compatriots in China. We can fight the coronavirus together!
