On September 14, members of the Houston Branch put a fresh spin on an annual event: the AYLUS School Supplies Drive. Traditionally, the Houston Branch had gathered school supplies prior to the start of the school year, supplementing their total with generous donations from local businesses. Then, the branch partnered with local schools serving disadvantaged communities to provide supplies to children in need. This year, branch historians Ethan and Aidan Liu decided to make an ambitious leap forward, creating the AYLUS Houston School Supply Bank as a central depot of school supplies that is available for all K-12 schools in the Greater Houston area. To kick off the bold initiative, the officers led a drive to collect school supplies in the Grand Lakes neighborhood, bringing in hundreds of items thanks to the altruism of the community. This is just the first step in a yearlong process that the historians hope will lead to a tangible impact on the lives of thousands of children across Houston. In the meantime, enjoy the pictures from the first drive!
