On August 2nd, 2019, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 83rd Computer for Kids Lab, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.
The participants did the following:
11 – Hard Drives Removed from Laptops
54 – Hard Drives Removed from Desktop Computers
143 – Keyboards Cleaned
25 – Laptops Disassembled
Items Sorted
23 – Power Adapters
13 – Mice
So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of this year:
- Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 4,553 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
- Cleaned out, or prepared 132 desktop computers for refurbishing
- Tested/repaired/mounted 526 LCD monitors
- Removed RAM from 572 computers
- Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, removed and cloned 7,589 hard drives
- Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 19,112 mice/keyboards/power cords/adapters/batteries/etc.
- Tested and Bagged 128 Speakers
- Removed 22 Optical Drives
