San Diego Branch organized 73rd Computer for Kids Lab in May 24th, 2019

On May 27th, 2019, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 73rd Computer for Kids Lab, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.

The participants did the following:

11 – Computers                   

30 – Mice                                     

35 – Keyboards

2 – Printers                        

1 – VGA  Cords                                

70 – Power Cords & Adapters               

39 – Docking Stations              

18 – Hard Drive Caddies

1 – DVD Duplicator  

228 – Miscellaneous  Hardware

 

So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab of this year:

  • Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 4,528 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
  • Cleaned out, or prepared 132 desktop computers for refurbishing
  • Tested and repaired 413 LCD monitors
  • Removed RAM from 463 computers
  • Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, removed and cloned 6,466 hard drives
  • Wrapped, folded, sorted, and packed 15,977 mice/keyboards/power cords/adapters/batteries/etc.
  • Tested and Bagged 128 Speakers

The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 73rd Computer for Kids Lab.

In addition, the AYLUS San Diego Committee has also implemented new policies and regulations in order to decrease conflicts. From the computer lab on May 3rd, positive results can already be seen.
