On April 21st, the AYLUS Houston Branch hosted a college preparation seminar to inform high school students. Two high school seniors, Jonathan and Sunny, were invited as guest speakers. The two seniors thoroughly explained the workings of the college application process and the steps high school students need to take to be more prepared for college applications. Sunny and Jonathan explained many key factors to college readiness: how to write a college essay, which colleges are the right pick, which extracurricular activities to partake in, etc. They provided their first-hand experiences dealing with difficulties in the application process. Each senior furthermore presented their own unique, insightful experiences in order to illustrate the college preparation process.
Additionally, AYLUS officer Ethan Jiang, and members David Lin and David Liu gave a presentation explaining how to lead a volunteering event through AYLUS. They hoped to encourage the high school students who attended the seminar to join AYLUS. The AYLUS Houston Branch members explained the steps required to lead events which included planning, preparation, setup, execution, and publicity.
A warm thank you to Sunny and Jonathan for the wonderful advice and David Liu, David Lin and Ethan Jiang for sharing their experience leading events
Also, on behalf of the AYLUS Houston Branch, we appreciate everyone who came to the seminar and gave their support for the speakers.
