On July 20th, 2018, students from the San Diego Branch of AYLUS organized and participated in the 29th Computer for Kids Lab, repairing and cleaning electronic devices in order to prepare them to send to children of low-income families. This helps the kids achieve academic success through possible access to technology.
The participants did the following:
- Cloned 11 Hard Drives
- Reset 39 Tablets
- Destroyed 70 Hard Drives
- Wiped 161 Hard Drives
- Sorted 250 VGA Cables
- Sleeved 491 Tablets
- Tested 603 Hard Drives
- Cleaned 636 Power Adapters for Tablets
So far, the San Diego branch students have accomplished the following since the first Computer for Kids Lab started:
- Diagnosed, repaired, tested, or sleeved 2,062 notebooks/netbooks/laptops/tablets/desktops
- Tested and repaired 74 LCD monitors
- Diagnosed, tested, wiped, counted, and cloned 971 hard drives
- Wrapped/folded, sorted, and packed 2,092 mice, and power cords/adaptors
- Tested and Bagged 125 Speakers
The following volunteers participated: Mike Bai, Colin Huang, Chengda Li, Chengming Li, Andrew Peng, Joshua Trost, Kevin Wang, Richard Wu, Eric Xu, Jason Xu, Ricky Xu, Claude Yan, Nathan Yang, Yaming Yang, Yawen Yang, Andrew Zhang, Alan Zhu, and Brian Zhu.
The AYLUS San Diego Committee organized the 29th Computer for Kids Lab.
