On Fairfax school holidays Monday November 6th and Tuesday November 7th, the Fairfax Branch met to help out at Capital Food Bank in order to have a meaningful day off.
Two years ago, in the light of Thanksgiving spirit, we organized a food drive by collecting canned foods over the course of two weeks. This time, we decided to go to the actual warehouse which was a completely different experience. There was a variety of work to do at the warehouse. Some members loaded baskets, some sorted foods into different boxes, some sorted foods on the shelves, and others drove forklifts to transport boxes of foods to different parts of the warehouse. Afterwards, the Manager of the Food Bank was really grateful for our contribution and welcomed us to go back again.
