South Boston Branch preserves Cronk’s Rocky Woodland

On Tuesday, August 16, South Boston Branch members Eric Zhou, Daniel Zhou, Christie Yu, Melinda Yu, Cory Zhou, and Becky Zhou spent hours at Wellesley’s Cronk’s Rocky Woodland to preserve and prepare the sanctuary for fall. The group learned about different native plant species, including red and white oak trees, and toured different paths on the grounds. Then, the Wellesley Conservation Council assigned jobs such as raking leaves, building trails, and identifying plants to the group. Lastly, the WCC showed them a simple way of recycling: washing ziploc bags and hanging them on shaved tree limbs. The group learned so much about native plants and grounds, and hope to return soon to help further protect the area!
