“Yes, I can help.”

There are a lot of issues with our world today. Terrorism, natural disasters, just to name a few. It seems as if every day, there is some horrible event happening. Another day, another act of terror. Another day, another earthquake. Another day, another scandal. While these events may often seem insignificant because they do not directly affect you, there are many families, communities, and cities that are devastated by these tragic events. Sometimes we all need to be less self-centered and think about others that are suffering.

Even though I am just one out of the seven billion human beings on this planet, I can make a difference. Every little act of kindness and love is monumental and can inspire others to follow suit. Just like a chain of dominoes, when the first domino is knocked over, the next one topples, and the next, and the next. I can do my best to help the people in my local community and spread love and care for them, knowing that it all makes a difference. By doing this, I am not only improving the lives of these people, but I am also improving the world in which we all live. As the French philosophe Jean Jacques Rousseau once asked, “What wisdom can you find that is greater than kindness?”
