Introduce MathCircleOnline

MathCircleOnline (MCO) is a grass based math study web site supported by a group of parents from Wechat group: Ivytrack Education Group.  It is founded by three high school students Hill Yin, Christie Yu and Eric Wu under the close supervision of Dr. John Wang and Mr. Kevin Wu. MCO is non-profit and open to public.

The mission of Math Circle Online (MCO) is developing a community of students interested in study math and helps each other to solve the math problems in various math competitions and school work.

  • Build a comprehensive video library of most common math competition problems;
  • Develop an effective platform for student to exchange information and help each other through the discussion on MCO forum.

Call for problem solving and math tutorial videos: MCO encourages the students from elementary school to high school to produce and submit problem solving videos for various math competitions such as

  • Math League(grades 4 to high school),
  • Continental Math League (4-9 grades),
  • MOEM (4 -Grade 8),
  • MathCounts (6-8 grades),
  • AMC 8 (7-8 grades),
  • AMC 10 (8 – 10 grades),
  • AMC 12 (9-12 grades),
  • AIME etc.

For accepted videos, MCO will issue certificate to honor the student community service hour. The videos collected by MCO will be used for public service purpose only.

Each week, MCO will select one or two videos displaying at its home page to encourage and inspire young contributor.

Why MCO?

From the experience of Hill Yin and Eric Wu, who have made numerous math tutorial videos for Alliance of Youth Leader in the United States (AYLUS), they both felt that creating tutorial video not only helped them to understand the math concept in great details, but also extremely helpful to improve their public speaking skill and build strong self-confidence.  This process benefits them in many aspects.
